    Today, The New Nigeria Peoples Party's candidate (NNPP), Yusuf Abba Kabir, has been declared as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Kano state by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

    The declaration was made in the early hours of Monday and at the moment growing tension in the state.

    In accordance to the results declared by the Returning Officer for the Kano State Governorship election, Professor Ahmed Ibrahim. the NNPP candidate polled 1,019,602 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nasiru Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress, who got 890,705 votes.

    Right here, Below are the results as announced by the Returning Officer of the Kano state Saturday's governorship election:


    AA – 211

    AAC – 955

    ADC – 12,832

    ADP – 9,402

    APC – 890,705

    APGA – 1,360

    APM -4,955

    APP – 430

    BP- 533

    LP – 5,409

    NNPP – 1,019,602

    NRM – 862

    PDP – 15,957

    PRP – 2,188

    SDP – 759

    YPP – 9,835

    ZLP – 1,882


    Making a Total number of registered voters to be – 5,921,370

    And Total number of accredited voters counted are – 2,032,955

    Then Total number of valid votes are– 1,977,872

    The Total number of rejected votes – 27,092

    Sum Total votes cast – 2,004,964


    Meanwhile, owing to the growing tension in the state, the Kano State government has declared a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the state to forestall breakdown of law and order.
