Know that Qatar is the only country in the world with blue roads. The roads are painted blue as part of a pilot project by the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) to reduce the temperature of the asphalt by 15-20 degrees Celsius. 

Dark-colored asphalt roads absorb heat from the sun, which can make them very hot to walk on or drive on, especially in hot weather. The blue paint reflects sunlight, which helps to keep the roads cooler.

The blue roads were first installed in a busy area of Doha, near the Souq Waqif. The project was a success, and Ashghal has since painted more blue roads in other parts of the city.
