Motorola, under Lenovo's ownership, has revealed a prototype phone display that has the capability to encircle the user's wrist.
Unveiled on Tuesday, the adaptive display is intended to demonstrate the potential future applications of a flexible screen in smartphones.
According to the company, the screen can be flexed and contoured into various shapes depending on the user's preferences.
When laid flat, the 6.9-inch screen functions like a typical phone, providing a complete Android experience. It can then be adjusted to different standing positions for added versatility.
For example, in the upright position, it offers a more condensed version of the full Android interface on a 4.6-inch display. Motorola envisions this setup being useful for video calls. Additionally, the device can be curved around the wrist to simulate the experience of the Razr Plus's cover screen.
As this phone is currently only a concept, there is no information available regarding pricing or whether it will be made available to the public.
This innovative concept from Motorola is not the first instance of a flexible phone display. Lenovo, the parent company of Motorola, previously presented another wrist-wrapping phone concept at its Tech World event in 2016.
