​The story centers on Deputy Sam Evans (Johnny Simmons), a former local sports star who's fallen from grace and is struggling to be taken seriously as he attempts to curb his town's escalating drug epidemic. Sam's mission is immediately complicated by the arrival of the hot-shot, smooth-talking undercover agent, Bobby Gaines (Seann William Scott). Gaines is instantly hailed as the community's savior, a hero sent by the state’s Special Narcotics Task Force to clean up the streets.

​However, as Sam is forced to work alongside the charismatic, yet strangely unsettling, new top dog, he begins to suspect that Bobby Gaines isn't the noble figure he claims to be. This suspicion unravels a complex web of deceit and corruption, plunging Sam into a chaotic and dangerous investigation where the lines between lawman and criminal blur. The film, which also features Rob Riggle and marks the final screen appearance of the late Chance Perdomo, has been praised for its sharp dialogue and its ability to satirize macho bravado while delivering genuine thrills.
